How to Access the Registry
HOW TO ACCESS THE SECURED TRANSACTIONS REGISTRY WEBSITE
There are three ways of accessing the Secured Transactions Registry website. The kind of access that you need depends on whether you want only to search or also to register financing statements.
If you only want to search for existing financing statements, from the Home screen select the Public Search option from the taskbar. There is no need to log in, and no fees are charged.
Note: to request a Certified Search Report, you need to open a Search Only or Client Account in order to submit a request and pay for the generation of the Certified Search Report.
If you are interested in performing a certified search but are not a bank, then you should create a Search Only Account in the Secured Transactions Registry. This will allow you to log in and to request Certified Search Reports. With this type of account you will be required to make payments via credit or debit card prior to being able to complete a fee based transaction. To learn how to set up a Search Only Account, select Set Up an Account from the How To Guides option in the main menu. Click the Create an Account link on the main menu to access the account set up page which you can complete and submit on-line.
If you are with a bank or financial institution that will register Financing Statements of Security Interest on a regular basis, the institution should open a Client Account with the Secured Transactions Registry. This will allow the financial institution to authorize its individual users to log in to the website to register financing statements and to request Certified Search Reports.
To learn how to set up a Client Account, from the Home screen select the Set Up an Account option in the How To Guides on the main menu. These accounts can not be set up online and must be set up with the Registrar.
